1st Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference

  • Location: Oslo Period: March 23, 2010
    Program responsible: Jon Dugstad +47 95 72 85 80 Event organizer: Anja Reiler +47 41694374

Offshore wind power might provide an answer to Europe’s energy and climate dilemma – exploiting an abundant energy resource. The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) has a 2020 target of 40 GW offshore wind capacity installed. This challenging but manageable task requires investments of more than 100 bn EUR and another 20-30 bn Euro for grid connections.

An entire new offshore wind power industry and supply chain must be developed on a scale that will match that of the North Sea oil and gas exploitation. The Norwegian offshore industry has the competence and is particularly well placed as potential suppliers to the offshore wind development in the North Sea.

Norwegian Renewable Energy Partners - INTPOW, has gathered the most prominent speakers on offshore wind and supply chain development for INTPOW’s 1st Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference. Highly profiled speakers from The Crown Estate, British Wind Energy Association, Forewind, BVG Associates, Statoil, Statkraft, Eversheds, Master Marine, Norwind, GIEK and a number of other industrial, consulting and financing institutions will discuss the opportunities, challenges and requirements of the huge offshore wind development program in the North Sea.

In addition, the conference will feature a discussion on the exiting prospects of a supernational grid in the North Sea, profiling the opportunities of connecting the offshore wind farms in the North Sea and Norway to the rest of Europe.

Conference delegates will be presented the opportunities and requirements of this exiting emerging market, with emphasis on the first contracts based on the UK offshore wind development program.

Delegates will learn from the experience of the first movers in the industry and strengthen their knowledge of the market challenges, risk mitigating needs and the procurement process in general.
